The Nook Neurodevelopmental Clinic is a leading private clinic specialising in ASD and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) assessments. We are a multi-disciplinary team of professionals –  led by Dr Selina Warlow – a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience. Dr Warlow worked across mental health services for the NHS and The Priory.

Neurodevelopmental conditions can have a profound effect on individuals and their families. Dr Warlow and her team can offer precise diagnoses and support to adults and children.

All diagnoses follow best practice tools and guidelines set out by the National Institution for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). In addition, each assessment includes a report recognised by public agencies.

Autism spectrum disorder diagnostic evaluation London

Our team uses the gold standard of autism screening and assessment tools. This allows us to quickly and accurately diagnose autism before making recommendations. Our process aims to be straightforward, involving different activities according to age.

Are you a parent with a daughter you think might be on the autistic spectrum, or maybe you are a woman who thinks you might have autism spectrum disorder (ASD)? We specialise in autism in girls. Due to various factors, girls with ASD might be misdiagnosed or overlooked because girls may hide their symptoms and work harder to fit in. Our team has a lot of experience diagnosing girls and women with ASD, and we can answer any questions.

Child autism assessment

Our autism assessments consist of several stages. These include screening questionnaires for home and school. We will then arrange a time for an Autism Diagnosis Interview Revised (ADI-R), so we can better understand a child’s behaviour.

Then we complete a formal face-to-face assessment, called an ADOS-2, the gold standard for autism assessments. This is done jointly between a Clinical Psychologist and Speech and Language Therapist. We will then issue a detailed report and organise a feedback appointment and further support.

Adult autism assessment

Our adult autism screenings follow the same format as a child diagnosis. Questionnaires are designed to screen for other mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression.

All diagnoses align with NICE guidelines, and reports align with the work we do for the NHS. Our reports will always include details of further recommended support.

London ADHD assessments for children

Are you looking for an ADHD assessment for your child near London? Our clinic can also diagnose Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD).

We understand the stress associated with these conditions, particularly the long waiting times on the NHS. We can provide quick and straightforward assessments. The report you receive will include information on resources. We do not work with psychiatrists or prescribing nurses, so we do not prescribe medication, but we can signpost support.

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) assessments London

Some children and adults have a particular profile on the autism spectrum called Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).

Individuals with PDA experience significant levels of stress and anxiety and seek to maintain control in order to avoid demands placed on them.

Whilst PDA does not appear separately in diagnostic manuals, such as ICD-10 or DSM-V, it has been formally recognised as a subtype of autism, and this can be included in any report.
