Our founder, Dr Selina Warlow, is a Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience working in neurodevelopment and mental health services. She has built a team of experienced professionals, including Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Occupational Therapists—all of whom are passionate about supporting individuals and families on their neurodiversity journey.

Dr Warlow has worked in leading mental health services such as the NHS, CAMHS, and The Priory, and brings her wealth of knowledge and warmth to every step of the process. At The Nook Clinic, we understand that pursuing an assessment can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’re here to support you with clarity, kindness, and clinical excellence.

The clinic in Kettering is the perfect location in the Midlands as it is 1 hours drive from Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Cambridge, and even closer to Peterborough, Northampton and Coventry.

I cannot recommend The Nook highly enough, from start to finish (which only took a month from the initial phone call!) the whole team were brilliant. The assessment was thorough, we felt very heard as parents and our daughter who was nervous initially was made to feel comfortable and relaxed during her meeting. Contacted nook clinic for joint assessment of ASD & ADHD. We had all the appointments confirmed and booked within the same day of enquiring. All emails were responded so so fast! Which was great as we needed the assessments done asap. All the people we dealt with were absolutely lovely. Ellie was a great help after diagnosis’s as we had some questions, meeting was also booked very fast. Ellie made my son feel really comfortable through his meeting also. Thank you, to everyone that was involved in this process. Yous made a very hard progress also very easy and calming. Thank you again! I can't recommend or speak highly enough of this clinic. From start to finish the team were professional, understanding and upfront. I contacted multiple practises and I chose The Nook because they provided me with a vast amount of specific information prior to confirming an assessment type with them. I liked the design of the website, I wanted a clinic who specialised solely in the assessment I required. The location in Farnham was calming, welcoming and reduced sensory overload. The therapist's I interacted with made the process clear and they were beyond patient and understanding of my challenges and difficulties. The contact outside of the assessments was timely, to the point and very clear. The report was in excess of 20 pages. To offer a follow up with the founder post diagnosis report was such a relief and gave me the opportunity to ask any questions or raise any concerns I had. Well worth the money.

We chose The Nook for a combined ADHD and Autism assessment for our 10-year-old son after struggling to access NHS support due to long waiting times and red tape. From the very first contact, the experience was reassuring and supportive. Even before committing, I had a comforting phone call with Dr Selina Warlow, who took the time to listen to our situation and advise us honestly on the most appropriate assessment. The process itself was quick and straightforward; my son was offered his first face-to-face appointment within a week of confiming. We have had an incredibly positive experience with 3 children. The team apply their expertise with great sensitivity and attention to detail. All of my children (from 6-18 years of age) experienced the assessment positively and one described it as a ‘really nice day’ out. The feedback for schools was very helpful.

Autism Assessments for Adults and Children (age 5 years- adults)

Our Autism assessments are in line with NICE guidelines, are multi-disciplinary and in line with the reports that we do in the NHS. The cost for an Autism assessment is £2,150. A joint ASD and ADHD assessment costs £2,750

Questionnaires

We will send out questionnaires to complete

Once booked, we will send out a set of questionnaires to gather background information. These screen for autism and related areas such as anxiety, attention, and emotional wellbeing. For child assessments, questionnaires are also sent to school (unless your child is not currently attending school).

Developmental Interview (ADI-R)

We will complete a full developmental history and learn about current experiences

We will arrange a detailed interview to explore developmental history and current experiences. This involves the Autism Diagnostic Interview–Revised (ADI-R) for children, or a comprehensive Adult Autism Interview for adults.

Face-to-Face Assessment (ADOS-2)

We will see you face to face for the ADOS -2 assessment

The formal assessment takes place in person at the clinic and involves a social communication assessment using the ADOS-2. This is carried out jointly by two experienced clinicians (e.g. Clinical Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, or Occupational Therapist) and takes around one hour.

Written Report

You will receive a detailed written report

You will receive a detailed, clear report outlining the assessment findings, diagnostic outcome (where appropriate), and personalised recommendations to support understanding and next steps.

Feedback and Support

We will meet you for a feedback call online

You can book a 30-minute feedback session via video call to talk through the report, ask questions, and ensure everything is fully understood.

If further support is needed, we can signpost you to trusted professionals and services to help with next steps, interventions, or adjustments.

Private ADHD Assessments near Oundle for Children and Adults

Our ADHD assessments follow NICE guidelines which are the same standards used by the NHS and are available for children, teenagers, and adults. We explore all ADHD presentations, including inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive, and combined types.
We use gold-standard tools such as the QB Check (a computer-based assessment of attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity) and the ACE assessment.

For children, we gather information from parents and schools and take a detailed developmental history.

For adults, we conduct a comprehensive interview and clinical assessment.

We use a combination of:

  • Developmental history interviews (e.g., ADI-R),
  • Structured observational assessments (e.g., ADOS-2),

We understand that some people, particularly girls and women may mask or camouflage their difficulties, which is why we gather information from multiple sources to ensure a complete picture.

Following the assessment, we provide a detailed report and offer a feedback session to explain the findings and answer any questions you may have. We’ll also share tailored recommendations and signpost helpful resources.

Assessments for Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)

PDA is a profile seen in some individuals on the autism spectrum who experience high anxiety and a strong need to resist everyday demands. While it is not a separate clinical diagnosis, we are experienced in recognising and assessing for PDA profiles.
If this profile is identified, we will include it in our feedback and diagnostic report, along with advice and resources that can help support day-to-day life at home or school.
